That time Kevin Hart's apology actually made sense to me after I watched his full standup set
I used to write off celeb apologies as just damage control. Last month I sat down and watched Kevin Hart's whole special where he talked about the homophobic jokes from 2009, and I gotta say it hit different. He didn't just say sorry, he broke down why those jokes were lazy and hurtful and how he had to unlearn that stuff. Has anyone else found that actually going back to the source material changed their take on a public figure's apology?

...and honestly, I read somewhere that he actually reached out to the LGBTQ+ community years before the public apology to have real conversations about it. Like, he didn't just wait until he got caught and then throw out a sorry. That context changed everything for me. It's one thing to apologize on stage for the cameras, it's another to actually do the work behind the scenes (even if nobody knows about it). Made me think maybe we're too quick to judge these apologies without knowing the full story.
