The apology tour that skipped the actual victim
Watched this influencer from LA post a 6 minute video apologizing for saying something racist in 2019. She cried, talked about her therapist, even tagged the person she allegedly hurt. But then that person came out and said she never even got a private message or a phone call, just found out through the public post. Seemed like the whole thing was built for her followers instead of the person she wronged. Is a public apology real if you dont actually reach out to the person first, or is that just damage control dressed up as growth?

Read that this happens all the time, seems like more about saving face than anything.

Oh boy, that reminds me of the time my neighbor tried to hide the fact that his prized rose bushes died during a freeze. He painted them green and stood out there every morning pretending to prune them. @the_viola is probably right, it's all about keeping up appearances. People will go to wild lengths to avoid admitting something didn't work out, even if everyone else can see right through it. I swear, half the time we'd all be better off just saying "yeah, that flopped" and moving on.
