TIL that YouTube apology from a beauty guru I hated was actually legit
I was ready to roast this influencer for her tearful video about using racist language 5 years ago. She listed specific examples, gave receipts, and even named a mentor she paid to learn from. Then she donated $10k to a charity and posted the confirmation. Has anyone else been totally wrong about a public figure's apology after digging into it?

The interesting thing is how many apologies we write off just because we don't like the person. If some random average person did that same video with receipts and a donation check, people would probably call them a hero. But because it's someone we already decided was bad, we just assume they're faking it. You have to wonder how many legitimate turnarounds we miss out on because of that bias.

Funny you mention that because I totally misjudged a local politician's apology once. He said some dumb stuff about housing policy that hurt a lot of people, and I was ready to write him off as just another hack. But then I saw he actually went to community meetings every week for a year, listened to people, and changed his whole platform based on what he learned. That kind of follow-through is rare. What made you finally change your mind on that beauty guru?
