Unpopular opinion: I think that comedian's apology video after the old tweets resurfaced felt more like damage control than a real change of heart.

On one side, he said 'I was a different person 10 years ago' and donated $50k to a related charity, but on the other, the whole thing dropped right before his new special was set to launch, so was it genuine or just good business?

Yeah, I used to give people the benefit of the doubt on these apology tours. But the timing is just too perfect, you know? It's always right when they have something to sell. The donation feels like a calculated fee to make the bad press go away, not like they actually learned anything. It just leaves a bad taste.
