Visited a celebrity apology press conference and spotted something weird
I went to a press conference last Thursday for a famous actor who messed up big time with some old tweets. He was reading this apology from a paper that looked super worn out, like he had been practicing it for months. The weird part was when he paused and looked at his manager for approval before saying he was sorry to his fans. I counted 5 times he said the word "learning" without actually admitting what he did wrong. Someone in the back yelled asking if the apology was written by a PR team and the actor just froze for 10 seconds. The whole thing felt like a scripted TV show rather than a real moment of regret. Has anyone else gone to one of these things and seen the same fake energy?

@phoenixk64 nailed it calling it "damage control theater" cause that's exactly what it is. The whole worn out paper thing is just another prop to make him look rehearsed and sincere when really it's just a stage play. PR teams have boiled these apologies down to a formula and it's getting harder to pretend they're real.

Yep, saw the same thing happen at a town hall here last month, total scripted mess.

Totally had the same feeling watching that clip online. Saw him do that long awkward pause and it was like watching a robot reboot lol. The whole "learning" thing is such a classic PR talking point, they never actually say what they learned. Felt bad for the guy who yelled out, cause you could tell everyone was thinking it. These things are just damage control theater at this point.
