Appreciation post: that cheap ceramic pour over I almost skipped

I bought a $9 ceramic V60 style dripper at a garage sale in Portland last spring, mostly to hang on the wall for decor. My wife dared me to actually brew with it and I rolled my eyes, figured it would drip too slow or crack from heat. After 4 tries with my usual grind setting it poured clean and even, no channeling at all. Now I use it every morning and my $200 electric brewer sits in the cabinet collecting dust. Has anyone else found better results from a random garage sale find than their fancy gear?
