Ditched my burr grinder for a cheap blade one and here's what happened

My $150 burr grinder died mid-scoop last Tuesday and I grabbed a $20 Krups blade grinder as a temp fix. Turns out, the uneven grounds actually gave my French press a way better body and less sludge. Anyone else try this or am I just making excuses to save cash?

Funny enough, I switched to a cheap blade grinder for camping and now I actually prefer the coffee it makes in my AeroPress. No idea why it works better but I'm not complaining about saving money.

Probably the uneven grind lets some fines through that actually work better with immersion brewing.
