Jumping off what brooke said, it's just a way for people to feel special without actually doing anything different. All these methods are just tiny tweaks on the same basic pour technique, like changing the angle you hold the kettle by one degree. At the end of the day, if you're using good beans and decent water, most of that stuff doesn't matter anyway.

Saw a guy at my local grocery store yesterday with three different pourover kits in his cart. It's like the coffee world went crazy. Every influencer out there is pushing their own special method. Meanwhile I'm still using my cheap Mr. Coffee from 2019 and it works fine. People just want to feel like they're doing something special with their morning routine. The whole thing is getting ridiculous honestly.

Really though, what was the actual difference between most of them? Half of those probably just moved the kettle two inches to the left and called it a revolution. Feels like everyone's convinced their tiny tweak changes everything. Ever notice how none of them ever admit their method makes objectively bad coffee?
