I finally picked a single-origin over a blend for my morning cup this week.

I went with a Guatemalan Huehuetenango from my local roaster, and it's been a much cleaner, brighter start to the day, but I'm curious if anyone else has a go-to origin for their first coffee.

Yeah, that "first cup is a ritual" line is so true. I read an article about how the smell of coffee alone can trigger that wake-up feeling.

Guatemalan coffees are my absolute favorite for the morning. That bright, clean taste cuts through the fog better than anything else. It reminds me of how we all look for that one specific thing to start our day right, like a particular song or a quiet minute alone. Choosing a single origin feels like a small act of paying attention, you know? It's a tiny decision that sets the tone, and I've been trying to apply that focus to other parts of my routine. That first cup is a ritual, and getting the details right makes the whole day feel more intentional.

Totally get that, it's such a focused way to start. And @tessa_adams3 is right about the smell too, it's like a signal for your brain. Makes the whole routine feel more solid, you know?

Honestly, that focus on a single-origin morning ritual sounds a bit stressful to me (no offense to @tessa_adams3, I get the appeal). My brain is just not online yet, and making a careful choice feels like a test. I actually prefer a dark, cheap blend first thing because it's just a warm, bitter kick without any thinking. The fancy single-origin stuff is for later, when I can actually taste things.
