I just realized I've been buying the same coffee for over 500 mornings

It's the cheap pre-ground stuff from the grocery store. I never even looked at the bag until I saw the loyalty card stamp count. Has anyone else had a wake-up call that made them finally try something new?

That's how we end up stuck in ruts without even noticing. Sometimes you need that little jolt to break the autopilot.

Sounds like a stretch to call that a rut. It's just a coat, not a life crisis. People get used to small annoyances without it meaning anything deep.

Exactly. Next thing you know the guy's wearing a coat held together with duct tape and calling it "character." I had a friend who wore the same pair of running shoes for so long the sole was basically glued on and he swore they were "broken in." Took his kid pointing at a homeless guy's shoes and asking if daddy was poor too for him to finally buy new ones. Sometimes you need a good kick in the pants from a five year old.

Watched my buddy stare at his ten year old winter coat, the zipper broken for like three seasons. He just kept wearing it open, shivering. Seeing a photo of himself from a trip finally made him buy a new one. Said he forgot coats could actually be warm.
