Just realized my pour over technique has been wrong for 6 months after watching a barista in Portland
I overheard this guy at a shop saying you're supposed to bloom with twice the water weight of the grounds, not just a little splash, and now my coffee tastes way less bitter so has anyone else been doing it the wrong way this whole time?

50 bucks says that barista was just trying to sound fancy and you're placebo-ing yourself into thinking it tastes different. I've done the splash method for years and my coffee is fine, not bitter at all. Unless you're using some super expensive beans that need all that extra fuss, just keep doing what works for you. Its coffee, not rocket science.
