My camping coffee game changed with a portable French press.
No more bitter instant packets on chilly mornings.

Making decent coffee while camping is a win. Those instant packets are terrible.

Hold on, let's not trash instant coffee so fast. When you're out in the woods, who wants to deal with a whole coffee setup? Those packets are light, they don't take up space, and you just need hot water. Isn't the point of camping to relax, not to play barista? Sure, it might not be gourmet, but it gets the job done without any fuss. Sometimes simple is better when you're trying to enjoy nature.

Wait, "gets the job done"? Are we drinking the same stuff? That's not coffee, that's just warm brown water that tastes like sadness. My last instant packet was so bad I almost just chewed on a pine cone for the bitter taste instead. Getting the job done means I actually want to drink it, not just choke it down because I'm cold.

My buddy Dave tried that instant stuff on a fishing trip last year. He said it tasted like someone boiled a gym sock and called it coffee. Ended up just drinking river water, said it had more flavor.
