My cheap grinder was ruining my coffee until I tried this freezer trick

I have a basic blade grinder from Target that makes super uneven grounds, so my pour-overs always tasted bitter and weak. I read on a blog to freeze the beans for 15 minutes before grinding, and it actually worked way better. The grounds came out more even from my crummy grinder, and my morning cup in Portland tasted smoother. Has anyone else tried this with a cheap setup, or is there a better fix?

Yeah, that freezer trick is a neat workaround, but like @shane_bell said, it's just a band-aid. Ever think about how the cold might be messing with the bean's oils and the real taste, though?

That trick is a solid band-aid fix.

Four hours in the freezer changed those beans completely.
