My pour over routine went from okay to amazing in about two months
I used to just dump the water in. Got okay coffee. Then I started timing my pours. Aiming for 3 minutes total brew time. Using a scale to measure 22 grams of coffee. The difference is huge. Way more flavor. Clearer taste notes. It was all about being more careful with the water flow. Anyone else find that a simple timer changed their home brew game?

My buddy was the same way, just winging it with his pour over for years. He finally got a cheap kitchen timer and started paying attention to his pour speed, like you said. The guy called me all excited because his coffee suddenly tasted like the notes on the bag actually meant something. It's wild how a tiny bit of structure can unlock so much flavor you were missing before.

Honestly, my best cups came when I stopped using a timer. I got so stressed hitting exact times that my pours got shaky. Last week I just went by feel, watched the coffee bed, and made the most balanced cup I've had in months. All that timing can make the process rigid and take the joy out of it. Sometimes trusting your gut makes better coffee than any stopwatch.

But my timer is the only thing keeping my morning routine from total chaos.

Wait, are you saying you're fully team timer now? I was totally on the other side for years, thinking timers were just for beginners who needed training wheels. But then I tried being super consistent with my pour over for a week, and the difference was honestly huge. I still don't use it for the whole brew, just for the bloom and the main pour timing. It's weird how fighting chaos with one little tool can save your whole morning vibe.
