Vent: Bought a $9 bag of beans at a grocery in Akron last Tuesday and it was stale cardboard
Checked the roast date and it was 7 months old, so I drove 25 minutes to a little roaster in Canton that stamps every bag by hand. Anyone else got a spot they trust more than the big shelves?
I heard on a podcast that most grocery store beans sit in a warehouse way longer than people think, so the bag date barely means anything. Your 25 minute drive was probably worth it, fresh roasted makes a huge difference. My rule now is if I can't find a date on the bag, I just skip it.
