Woke up to a weird taste in my morning brew last week
I mean, it was just off, like a flat, almost papery flavor. I cleaned my grinder and machine, same thing. Turns out my partner bought a bag of pre-ground from the grocery store and mixed it into my good whole bean jar to 'save space'. It ruined about half a pound of a really nice Ethiopian I'd just opened. Has anyone else had a coffee crime happen in their own kitchen?

That is grounds for divorce, honestly. What a waste of good beans.

My friend Sarah's husband used her expensive single-origin beans to make a pot of coffee and then left it on the burner all day. It boiled down to a black tar. She said the smell alone was a crime.

Yeah, I read somewhere that burnt coffee smell can actually stick to walls and fabrics, wren230. It's not just the beans, it's like the ghost of bad coffee haunts the whole kitchen. Your friend Sarah is right to call that a crime.
