A client told me my blowouts were too hot and it made me rethink my whole approach
I had a regular come in last month who said her hair felt fried after her usual style. She pointed out my dryer was on high heat the whole time, even for the last pass. I used to think that was just how you got volume that lasted. I switched to medium heat for the roots and cool air to set the ends. It adds maybe 3 minutes to my time, but her hair feels way better now. I'm curious, has anyone else had a client call them out on a heat habit they didn't even notice?

My old salon in Tampa had dryers that basically only had one hot setting. Honestly, I used high heat on every client for years and never got a single complaint about damage. A little heat protectant spray goes a long way. Tbh, I think some people's hair is just more fragile than others, and you got one sensitive client. It's good to be careful, but I wouldn't overthink your whole method because of one comment.

That part about some hair just being more fragile is so true. It reminds me of this one regular I had, her hair could handle the hottest flat iron like it was nothing. Then her sister came in one time, same basic hair type, and a little bit of heat made her ends fry up instantly. You really never know until you try it on someone.

Genetics are weird like that sometimes.
