Found an old thinning shears trick my mentor from 15 years ago showed me
I was struggling with bulky layers on thick hair and remembered an old trick from my first salon job in Dallas. You just take small diagonal sections instead of straight across and it blends way better without that choppy look. Anyone else have a forgotten technique that saved them recently?

That diagonal trick works great. An old stylist I knew used to call them "stop signs" because she'd cut the sections to look like little road signs.

Isn't it wild how everyday objects just show up in haircuts like that?

Honestly, "stop signs" is a perfect name because my cuts end up looking like someone vandalized a highway. Ngl, I tried that diagonal trick once and somehow made my client's hair look like a tilted pizza slice. Tbh, I'm better at laying tile than laying hair, so I'll stick to watching you pros from a safe distance.
