Had a client request tape-in extensions last week and the whole thing went sideways
I'm still relatively new to extensions, but I've done a few sets before without issues. This client brought her own hair from some online shop and the tape strips were way too thick and kept sliding off. After 3 hours of trying to salvage it, I had to tell her the hair was basically unusable and refunded her deposit. Has anyone else had problems with client-bought extension hair not working with tape?

Oh, I had one client show up with extensions from a discount site called "Hair4Cheap" or something like that. The tape strips were so thick they looked like duct tape, and the hair itself had this weird plastic coating. I spent forty five minutes trying to get even one piece to stick, and finally just handed her back the whole bag and said this is a lost cause. She was upset, but I told her straight up that cheap online hair is a gamble and she ended up buying from my supplier instead. Lesson learned, now I have a policy that I only install hair I provide or at least approve first.

Isn't that always the way, @gracethomas? You'd think "duct tape" would at least be waterproof, but I guess not. That plastic coating sounds like a nightmare, I'd have told her the same thing and walked away.

Hair4Cheap" sounds like a red flag from the start though.
