I finally gave in and tried those viral hair oiling techniques from Pinterest
I went to a salon expo in Chicago last weekend and saw a stylist doing a scalp treatment with warm oil on a client. I always thought it was just messy and old school, but she explained how it helps with dryness and breakage if you do it right. So I tried it at home with jojoba oil and a hot towel for 20 minutes before washing. My hair actually felt way softer and less frizzy. Has anyone else had good results with a specific oil or method?

Does the oil temperature matter a lot? I used cold-pressed coconut oil once and it didn't work anywhere as good as when I heated it up a little first. Warm oil definitely sinks into the hair better than room temp stuff, and adding a microfiber towel on top keeps the heat trapped so it really penetrates the shaft. That little detail about wrapping it tight changed everything for me.

honestly really glad someone else is talking about this because I was so skeptical at first too but the jojoba oil and warm towel trick you mentioned is exactly what worked for me, I used a microfiber towel instead of a regular one and left it on for about 15 minutes before washing and my ends stopped splitting so much. it feels kind of like a cheat code for soft hair without all the expensive products people push.

Huh, I never even thought about microfiber making a difference but that actually makes total sense since it doesn't soak up all the oil like cotton does. Reminds me of how people use microfiber cloths for polishing cars because they don't leave lint or strip wax too fast. Hair and car care apparently have more crossover than I expected.
