I used to hate using scalp treatments until I saw the science
For years I thought scalp treatments were just a gimmick to upsell clients. I figured a good shampoo was all anyone really needed. Then I took a class last month from a trichologist in Austin who showed me a microscope demo. She put a sample of buildup from a client's scalp under the lens and I could literally see the bacteria and dead skin clogging the follicles. That was the moment I got it. The numbers she threw out surprised me too like 60% of people with thinning hair actually have scalp inflammation not genetics. Now I actually recommend a weekly pre wash treatment to my clients with buildup issues. Has anyone else had a similar wake up call from a class or demo?

That fungus stat totally changed how I view my own routine too.

My buddy Chris went to a scalp clinic after dealing with flakes for like ten years. He walks in all confident, tells the tech he's got dry scalp and needs moisture. They put him under the microscope and the lady just goes quiet for a second. Turns out his "dry skin" was actually a fungal overgrowth covering half his forehead. The treatment they gave him cleared it up in two weeks. He still brings it up at parties like some kind of scalp conspiracy theorist.

My first scalp treatment demo I literally put the wrong product on the model and she ended up with orange blotches for a week. Real professional. But that microscope moment hit me different too. I saw this one guys scalp that looked like a tiny city of dead skin cells. The trichologist said 80% of dandruff is actually a fungus imbalance which made me realize I had been fighting the wrong enemy for years with my cheap clarifying shampoo.
