My aunt insisted I stop using a razor on dry hair for a quick trim.
She said it would cause split ends and uneven layers, but I kept doing it for speed until a client in Portland pointed out the exact damage she predicted. What's the fastest way you've found to clean up a neckline without causing problems later?

Oh man, learned that the hard way too.
Just use the trimmer with a guard. It takes maybe two minutes and you won't butcher it. Dry shaving with a razor is asking for a mess of ingrown hairs and weird lines. Speed isn't worth fixing a bad job later.
