My manager's focus on profits over people has me stressed
Last month, our salon started tracking how many add-ons we sell per client. I got talked to for not pushing enough hair treatments during cuts. It feels wrong to suggest things clients don't really need just to hit a number. I love making folks look good, but this pressure is draining. Now I'm eyeing other salons or maybe going solo. Does anyone have advice for dealing with profit-driven bosses? How do you keep your work honest?

Trust means they come back, right?

Totally. @gavin_kim gets it, you gotta focus on fixing their actual problem. That's how you get people to stick around. Anything else just wrecks your rep.

Seriously, I found that suggesting only what clients actually need builds trust and keeps me sane.

Exactly. Pushing extra stuff they don't need just makes them feel pressured. Saw it at my last agency, always upselling. Clients get suspicious fast. They figure out you care more about the sale than their problem.
