Still not sold on those expensive hair dryers after trying one for 3 months

All my coworkers swear by the Dyson Supersonic, so I finally caved and bought one back in April. Ran it side by side against my old $40 Conair for a solid month, and honestly I couldn't tell enough difference to justify the $430 price tag. Maybe my hair is just too thick and short for it to matter, but I'm thinking of returning it. Did anyone else feel the hype was overblown or am I missing something?

Stopped reading at $430, thought my dentist was gonna drop my toothbrush when I told her how much those things cost. My $25 Revlon from CVS works fine on my long hair, just takes an extra 3 minutes. Honestly I think the whole thing is just status stuff for people who want to look fancy at the gym.

The same thing happens with kitchen knives too. My mom spent $200 on one chef's knife and I'm over here slicing tomatoes fine with my $15 one from Target that I've had for 5 years. It's like people forget that normal stuff still works just because fancy stuff exists.

Ask @brooke_taylor44 what she thinks about the drying time difference. Did you actually time it or just feel like it was shorter with the expensive one? I'm genuinely curious if maybe people just think it's faster without checking.

Stellat46 is asking the real questions. My sister paid $200 for some fancy hair dryer and swore it cut her time in half, but when I actually timed her one morning it was only like 4 minutes faster. I think half the battle is just the placebo effect of spending that much money.
