TIL my go-to hairspray changed formula and ruined 3 updos before I figured it out
I grabbed my usual can of Firm Hold from the supply shelf last Wednesday during a bridal party. Same brand, same bottle, same color cap. But the first updo started falling apart after 20 minutes. I resprayed and it still drooped. By the third one I checked the label closer and saw "new and improved" in tiny print on the back. The hold feels way lighter now. I ended up using triple the amount and a ton of pins to get through the day. Has anyone else had a favorite product sneakily change on them like that? I'm gonna have to start testing new batches before big jobs I guess.

Yeah that 'new and improved' in tiny print is the worst. It got me with my go-to hair serum last year. Same bottle, same label design, but they stuck that little line on the back. I bought three bottles because I thought I was going crazy when my hair felt more greasy and less smooth. Turned out they swapped out the silicone blend for something cheaper. I had to toss the whole stash and find a new brand from scratch. Now I check the ingredient list on every single restock, even if I've used it for years.

Oh man, that tiny "new and improved" print is a trap. My buddy who does hair for theater projects had the same thing happen with a texturizing spray she used for years. She bought a whole case of it once she found out they changed the formula, and now she just hoards the old stuff whenever she finds it in random beauty supply stores. She says it's like a treasure hunt now just to get the product that actually works. I guess loyalty to a brand doesn't mean much anymore when they can swap the formula without really telling you.

A whole CASE? Your buddy is living in 2030 while the rest of us are still figuring out we got duped. That's some next level commitment to finding a working product.
