TIL that double processing a bleach client's roots for 10 extra minutes cost me 2 inches of her length
A client came in near Aurora back in March wanting her grown out roots lifted to match her blonde. I left the lightener on 10 minutes past what I normally do because her regrowth looked stubborn under my lamp. Six weeks later she sat in my chair with the last 2 inches of her hair snapping off in my comb. The overprocess had broken the cuticle right where the old bleach met the new, and I had to take her from mid back to just below her shoulders to even it out. Now I cap my root touch ups at 35 minutes no matter how dark the regrowth looks. What is your cutoff time before you call it and rinse?
