Unpopular opinion: Those $200 salon chairs on Amazon are a complete waste

I bought a set of 3 from a seller called LuxePro last summer for $180 each. The hydraulic pump failed on one after just 2 months and the fake leather started peeling on another before the year ended. Has anyone else had better luck with any specific budget chair brands, or should I just save up for the real deal from a supply house like Armstrong?

Oh man, that LuxePro name sounds familiar lol. My buddy bought a set from them too and the armrest padding went flat in like 3 months, he said it felt like sitting on plywood. I fell for a different Amazon brand called Homall a while back, and the "leather" started flaking off on my arms within 6 months, looked like a shedding snake in my office. The hydraulics on mine were actually fine, but everything else just felt so cheap and hollow. Honestly, you're probably right about just saving up for the real deal from a supply house, those Amazon chairs seem built to break after the return window closes.

Cheap stuff is just the norm now across the board, not just furniture.

My buddy went through three different "gaming" chairs in two years and gave up. The first one had the gas cylinder blow out while he was leaning back, shot him straight into his desk. Second one the fake leather started peeling off in these weird little strips, got all over his carpet like confetti. Third one the armrests just snapped off when he leaned on them one day, plastic all over the floor. He finally just bought a used Steelcase from a liquidation place for like $200 and hasn't complained once since. You ever see any of those $300 "ergonomic" chairs hold up for more than a year?
