A trick for getting unstuck on a prompt that actually worked for me

I was stuck on a 'haunted object' prompt for three days. I forced myself to write a single, terrible sentence from the object's point of view, and the rest just clicked. Anyone have a different method for breaking through a block?

Hang on, pretty sure he meant a haunted stapler, not a toaster... big difference in the visual, right? I've accidentally stapled my finger before and I bet that thing would have a lot more to say than just "ouch." That's actually a pretty funny idea for a story though, a stapler that complains every time you use it.

Wait, a haunted toaster? That's the funniest thing I've ever heard. Just picturing it sighing over burnt toast got me.

Try writing the absolute worst version of the scene you can think of. I mean, I once wrote a haunted toaster that just kept burning bread and sighing, and it was so stupid it actually gave me a real idea. Sometimes you just gotta get the garbage out first.
