I ran a prompt swap with a random stranger and got a wild twist

Last Tuesday I posted a prompt about a haunted diner and this user replied with a version where the ghost was the cook, not the customer. I tried writing from that angle and my story went from spooky to dark comedy in about 3 paragraphs. It made me wonder if we cling too hard to our original idea when a stranger's tweak could take it somewhere better. So which side are you on, do you defend your first draft or let the comment section reshape your plot? Has anyone else had a total stranger's reply completely flip their scene?

Was the ghost cook actually funnier because it flipped a rule you didn't even know you'd set, like ghosts being the ones who haunt instead of the ones who run the grill? I had a similar thing happen where someone made my villain the narrator, and the whole plot shifted from revenge to like a really sad breakdown. Do you think it's easier to take a stranger's twist when it's just a prompt swap, versus when you've already got three chapters written?
