Just read that the average person has 1.5 'book ideas' in their lifetime

Saw that in a survey from a writing blog. Makes you wonder where all those half-ideas go, right?

Wait, only 1.5? That seems way too low. I have at least three ideas before my morning coffee. They're mostly bad, but they exist. I guess they're counting the fully formed ones, not the scraps. But still, that number feels made up. Like, who are these people not having ideas? My brain won't shut up about them.

What if the 1.5 is an average and I'm just bringing it down for everyone? My brain is mostly static.

Maybe they're counting the ideas you actually remember. Most of mine vanish before I can find a pen.

Seriously, that number is total nonsense. They have to be defining "idea" in some weird, strict way. My guess is they only counted ideas that were written down or acted on. Most thoughts just flicker and die. If we counted every half formed thing, we'd be in the thousands.
