That writing prompt generator advice from a Reddit stranger saved my draft
Last month I was stuck on a fantasy scene where my character had to cross a cursed river. A user in this sub told me to stop describing the water and instead write the scene as if the river was a character with its own agenda. I thought it sounded silly, but I tried it for 3 days straight. The result was a 2,000 word piece that my critique group actually praised, which never happens. The trick was giving the river a voice and a grudge, not just listing wet rocks and fog. Now I use that method for any obstacle in my prompts, not just rivers. Has anyone else gotten weird advice from a forum that turned out to be gold? What was it?
