Wrote a whole story from a single overheard line at a coffee shop
I was stuck on a character's voice until I heard someone say 'I guess I'm just a Tuesday person' in line at The Daily Grind. Now I start every new piece with a random line of dialogue and build the world out from there, which totally broke my writer's block. What's the weirdest place you've found a prompt?

Check the grocery store checkout line.

Yeah, @stella121 is right, that line is a whole mood. It's like a weird mix of candy bars, phone chargers, and those tiny bottles of hot sauce nobody actually buys. Always makes me wonder who's grabbing that stuff last minute.

Grab a few of those mini hot sauces next time you fill up, they're perfect for emergency lunches or when you forget to buy decent condiments. Toss one in your glovebox with some napkins and you've got a backup plan for those sad drive-thru meals. Best part is they never go bad so stocking up is zero risk.

The 24 hour gas station by my apartment has a whole rack of those mini hot sauces next to the beef jerky. I grabbed one last week for my terrible frozen pizza and it actually saved dinner. Stella121 is totally right about the checkout line vibe, it's where all the weird little things you never plan to buy end up. I swear they put that stuff there hoping you're tired enough to just grab it.
