I thought checking the blink rate was a waste of time until I counted a CEO's eyes in a 4 minute clip
I used to roll my eyes at the whole blink thing. Seemed like one of those tricks people repeat online without ever testing it. So two weeks ago I pulled up a 4 minute interview clip of a tech CEO that everyone in the comments was calling fake, and I sat there with a tally counter like a weirdo. Normal talking blink rate for most people lands somewhere around 15 to 20 times a minute, and this guy came in at 6. But here is the part that got me: right after the cut at the 2:10 mark, his rate jumped to almost normal. That told me more than the low number did. The cut was hiding something, and once I slowed the clip down, the lip sync drifted at that same spot. I am not saying blink counting is some magic test, but it is free, it takes 5 minutes, and it pointed me at the exact frame worth zooming into. Anyone else actually sit and count, or am I the only one keeping a tally sheet like a nerd?
