Spent 2 hours trying to spot a deep fake that was actually just bad lighting
So I was watching this clip someone shared in a conspiracy group, you know the kind. It showed a politician saying something totally wild at a podium. I spent almost 2 hours zooming in on the lip movements and shadows around their face, convinced it was a deep fake. I even ran it through one of those free online detectors (which are pretty useless, honestly). Turns out, it was just really bad stage lighting from a small town hall meeting in Ohio last month. The audio was actually legit, just poorly recorded. Has anyone else wasted a bunch of time on a video that turned out to be a genuine, just cheaply produced clip?
