I used to just look for weird faces, but a video from last month's election in Mexico changed my mind.

Now I check the audio first for that robotic 'breathing' between words. It's way faster and catches more fakes before I even get to the visual tells. What's your go-to first check on a sus video?

Wait, you can actually hear that breathing sound? I tried listening for it once and couldn't pick it up at all, I must be going deaf lol. What kind of headphones are you using?

Switched to a cheap pair of Panasonic over-ears and it was way clearer than my fancy closed backs. Turned the volume up a bit and focused on the left channel right around the 2:30 mark. Also tried it in my car with the fade a little to the rear, that helped pull it out from the rest of the mix. Once you lock onto it once, your brain knows where to tune in for it next time.
