My friend in Chicago said my fake spotting method was too basic
He pointed out I only checked for weird eye blinking and skin texture. Said I missed audio glitches and background details that don't match up. Now I always run a full check on the sound waves and look for things like clocks that are wrong. Anyone else get called out for missing a key check?

Yeah but "overkill for a random video" is where I disagree lol. The good fakes are getting really good, so the basic face stuff isn't enough anymore. I've seen a few that looked perfect until I noticed a light flicker wrong or a plant that didn't move in the wind. It takes two seconds to scan the background and it saves you from looking dumb later.

Used to just look for the face swap lines myself. Then I saw a fake where the audio was a half-second off from the mouth moving. Totally missed it. Another one had a wall clock running backwards in the background. Now I always run the audio through a quick check and scan the edges of the frame. It catches the sneaky ones.

Actually, those small mistakes are more common than you'd think. A lot of fakes slip up on background details because the tools aren't perfect yet. It's worth a quick glance around the edges.

Checking sound waves and wrong clocks. Honestly, how many fakes are that deep? Most are just a weird face or voice. You'd have to be making a movie to mess up that many details. Seems like overkill for a random video.
