Spent $80 on a high res webcam to check for fake skin textures in video calls

I got it to look for the weirdly smooth skin and blurry hair edges that deep fakes sometimes have. It actually helped me spot a fake in a public meeting last month, but now I'm wondering if I just got lucky. What other small tech buys have helped you guys spot fakes in real time?

That's a really clever use for a webcam! Read an article about people using good headphones to listen for weird audio glitches in calls, like voices that don't match mouth movements perfectly. The small delays or robotic tones can be a giveaway. Maybe try paying extra close attention to sound next time. Your webcam trick probably wasn't just luck if you knew what to look for.

Robotic tones? @wilson.olivia, that's a new fear unlocked.

That article about audio glitches is interesting. What kind of headphones did they say were best for catching those small delays?
