That AI Obama video from 2022 taught me one weird trick for spotting fakes
I was looking back at old deep fakes last week, specifically that Obama public service announcement from March 2022. Watch the eyes during blinking - real people blink naturally but the AI version had a 0.3 second delay between each blink that looked robotic. Has anyone else noticed timing issues with eye movements in these newer videos?

My friend missed an AI call because the blinking looked too regular.

i mean are people really that focused on blinking timing though? feels like one of those things you notice when you're looking for it but probably miss 99% of the time in regular conversation

People overthink this stuff but blinking cues are actually one of the harder tells to fake. If someone's blinking way less than normal during a serious conversation it's a pretty solid sign they're concentrating on lying or trying to keep a straight face. Normal blinking rate is around 15 to 20 times a minute and if you watch for a discrepancy of like 10 blinks or more it stands out. You'll notice it more once you start paying attention because the difference is usually pretty obvious.
