That old trick of zooming in on the eyes used to catch every fake, now it barely works anymore
Honestly I used to be able to spot a deep fake just by looking at how the eyes moved. Like around 2019, you'd see that weird lag or no blinking at all. But last week I watched a video of a politician giving a speech and the eyes looked perfect. Even the reflections matched. When did that change? Is there a new tell I should be looking for instead?

The whole thing is just blending into how nothing feels real anymore, honestly. Even news clips have this weird polish that makes you second guess everything. Other day I saw a video of a cat doing something impossible and I just shrugged, figured it was AI, didn't even care. We're all just floating in this soup of fake and real and somewhere in between.

Wow, I actually used to roll my eyes at people who said nothing felt real anymore. I was one of those "just check the hands" people like aaron880 said. But you're right, it's not just about spotting fakes now. It's the whole atmosphere of not knowing what to trust, even with regular news footage that looks too clean. I'm starting to get what you mean about that weird polished feeling, and it honestly bothers me more than I want to admit.

That whole "nothing feels real" thing is way overblown. You're saying we're in some soup of fake and real, but the reality is most videos going viral are still obviously fake if you spend ten seconds looking at the hands or the lighting instead of the eyes. People just got lazy about checking and now blame "AI" whenever something looks slightly off.
