Took 3 weeks to realize a politician's speech was lip synced from 2019
I was checking out this campaign rally clip from last Tuesday and something felt off. The audio was too clean compared to the background noise. I spent 3 weeks running it through every tool I knew, comparing mouth shapes, checking shadows, the whole nine yards. Turned out someone just took a 2019 speech where he said almost the same thing and synced new words over it. The giveaway was a tiny mole on his neck that moved between cuts. Has anyone else spent way too long on a fake that ended up being a lazy edit instead of some high tech AI job?

Used to figure if a video felt off it had to be some crazy AI deepfake thing, but stuff like this made me drop that idea fast. Real fakes are usually lazy, not smart. I spent two days once zooming into a "leaked" clip, checking lighting and frame rates and all that, and the tell was just the guy's tie knot flipping sides between shots. Nobody building some wild AI would mess up a tie knot. The neck mole thing you found is the same deal, a sloppy cut gave it away way before any tech did. Most of these things fall apart from plain old bad editing, not some computer wizardry.
