Update: My buddy's Peru hike video looks too perfect, is it fake?
So my friend posted this clip from his Machu Picchu trek where the sky is crazy clear and his face never sweats, lol. I've been in this group learning about deep fakes, and now I see stuff like weird skin textures or how his voice sounds off when he talks. One side says editing travel videos is fine to inspire people or share a dream trip. The other side thinks it's bad because folks might plan trips expecting perfect conditions and get upset when it's rainy or crowded. I went to Colorado once and the trails were muddy, nothing like the glossy pics online. If videos are faked, it sets a fake standard for real travel. What's your take on polishing travel footage with AI tools?

Young.thomas has a point about it being art, but phoenix_singh25's story is why I changed my mind. That gap between the polished video and the real muddy trail just feels dishonest.

See it as just the next step in editing, like how phone cameras already make colors pop way more than real life. If someone uses AI to tweak the sky or clean up sweat spots, they're just polishing the memory of a great trip, not lying about the place itself. Sometimes you gotta remove that random trash bag or dull gray weather to show how the place felt, not just how it looked on a bad day. It's art, not a news report lol.

Honestly, faking travel clips could even cross into false advertising territory.

I mean, my friend got tricked by a slick travel edit and the real place was a total letdown.
