Hit 50 dead end job applications in 3 days and something just snapped

I was tracking my job hunt last week and realized I'd sent out 50 applications in just 72 hours. That's like 16 a day with zero callbacks. The worst part wasn't the silence, it was seeing how many of those listings were copy pasted from each other with slightly different pay rates. One company had the exact same posting under three different names. Made me wonder if half these jobs even exist. Has anyone else hit a weird milestone that forced you to change your whole approach?

That bit about five really good applications instead of fifty really hit home for me. I switched to only applying where I had a genuine connection to the work or could tailor my resume in under 30 minutes, and my callback rate went from zero to one in ten. It felt slower at first but way less soul crushing, and eventually I landed something that actually fit.

The ghost listings thing is real too, some companies post jobs just to look like they're growing or to collect resumes for future openings. Might be worth checking if any of those companies have been reposting the same ad for months, that's usually a tell.
