Spent 4 hours trying to fix a toilet flush, finally called a plumber who did it in 15 minutes

My buddy paid $200 for a plumber to fix his garbage disposal in 20 minutes. That 15 minute fix probably cost you more than your time was worth. Sometimes you gotta know when to just admit defeat.

Wait, 20 minutes?? So your buddy just stood there watching a guy twist a wrench for twenty minutes and handed over two hundred bucks? @wren_mitchell I get that they have to pay for their van and everything, but that's like a hundred bucks just to show up and the rest is just... profit? I mean I know my time is worth something but I could watch a YouTube video for ten minutes and at least feel like I tried before I gave up and called someone. That's just a lot of money for something that took less time than my lunch break.

@angela_morgan pretty much nailed it. $200 for a 20 minute fix sounds about right when you factor in the truck, tools, and knowledge. That 15 minute DIY job probably cost that person a few hours and a lot of frustration. Sometimes it's just worth paying someone to get it done.
