Found a free county program that covers 20 hours of in-home care each week for my dad

After my mom broke her hip last month I called the Area Agency on Aging on a whim and they set us up with a respite care voucher through a state grant I'd never heard of, has anyone else found hidden local resources like this?

I read that some counties have "Caregiver Support" programs that nobody advertises until you ask.

Totally agree with @stellat46 on this. The county I live in has a Senior and Disability Services office that offers this exact thing, but you basically have to stumble onto their website or call them directly to hear about it. They can set you up with a caseworker who helps coordinate things like respite care and even small grants for home modifications, but nobody sends out a flyer about it. Also good to know is that each county runs things a little different, so what one offers might not be available in the next one over.

@alice928 nailed it, you really gotta dig to find what's available.
