I thought the 'life alert' style buttons were a scam until my mom fell in our kitchen in Akron.

We got her a basic system from a company called LifeCall after her doctor suggested it, and I was really doubtful it was worth the $35 a month. Last Tuesday, she slipped and couldn't reach the phone, but she pressed the button on her wrist and help was there in under 8 minutes. Has anyone else had a similar experience that changed their mind about a safety device?

Wow, my neighbor's story was just like that!

It's interesting how that happens, but I remember reading that our brains can fill in details after hearing a story. Maybe your neighbor's memory got blended with the one Jennifer mentioned. The specific stuff like the car color is usually what changes when stories get passed around. It's pretty common for details to shift without people even realizing.

Actually, that reminds me of a different story I heard last week. The details were pretty specific, like the color of the car involved and the exact street name. Makes you wonder how often these things get mixed up.
