Mom's medication setup finally failed
Last Tuesday my mom's weekly pill organizer cracked and everything got mixed up. She takes 8 different meds and I spent 90 minutes sorting them back into the right days. Has anyone found a durable organizer that actually lasts more than a few months?

My mom went through three organizers in six months last year before I gave up and bought a metal one from a medical supply place. 99 cents plastic just doesn't hold up to daily use, especially when you're dealing with shaky hands or arthritis. It's funny how we're expected to keep track of all this stuff but the containers themselves are made as flimsy as possible. The whole healthcare system feels like it's designed to make you fail unless you're constantly on top of it.

Gotta say, I'm not sure this is as big of a deal as everyone's making it out to be... 90 minutes sorting pills one time isn't exactly the end of the world. People act like this is some massive crisis, but it's just a plastic tray breaking, you know? Maybe just buy two organizers so you've always got a backup, problem solved. I've used the same $3 one from the grocery store for two years and it's fine, so maybe it's more about how you handle it than the product itself.

Honestly, I gotta push back on Stella a little bit. If you actually take care of someone with multiple meds, you know it's not just about one bad day with a broken organizer. When that little plastic tray gives out, it can mess up a whole week of dosages and that can be dangerous, especially if you mix up blood pressure pills or something. You can't always just "buy two" when you're on a fixed income either, and a cheap backup might break just as fast. That grocery store one might hold up for you, but with my mom's arthritis, she needs something she can actually open without fighting it every time.
