My mom's first week at the new memory care place in Springfield was a total disaster.

Honestly, they lost her dentures twice and she fell trying to find the bathroom at 2 AM. Tbh I'm thinking about pulling her out after just 7 days, but I don't know where else to go. Has anyone else had to move a parent out of a facility that fast and how did you handle it?

Feel so much for you, that sounds like a really scary first week. We moved my dad after ten days when they kept giving him the wrong meds, it was a stressful scramble but we found a better fit. Trust your gut if it feels unsafe, even if finding a new spot is exhausting.

Did you have to pay a big fee to move your dad so fast, @hannah_wells? My aunt's place had a crazy thirty day notice rule.

Totally agree about trusting your gut. When we moved my mom after a week, they tried to hit us with the 30 day notice thing too. I just stood there and reminded them the contract had a clause about unsafe conditions, and their med errors qualified as neglect. They backed off real fast. My advice is to read through the fine print for any safety loophole, then write down every screw up with dates and times. It gives you solid footing if they push back on fees.

Gut feelings about safety are almost always right.
