Spent $400 on a medical alert system for my dad and it was worth every penny
Honestly, I was on the fence about the cost, but after he fell in the kitchen last month and used the button, I changed my mind. The call center got an ambulance there in under 10 minutes. It gave him the confidence to stay in his own house a bit longer, which was the whole point. Has anyone else found a good system that isn't a huge monthly fee?

Those old base units were a pain, like matthewmiller said, but the new ones are way easier.

Remember my aunt had one of those old systems with the giant base unit. Thing looked like a brick from the 80s and the battery died if you looked at it wrong. She never used it because it was such a hassle. The new ones are so much better, just a simple button you can wear.

Her battery died just from looking at it?

Wait, was it one of those Beige Brick base units from the 90s? My buddy had one that came with a shoulder strap, like you were supposed to lug it around like a purse. Thing weighed more than a cast iron skillet and the battery would die if the coffee table looked at it wrong. Only upside was you could probably use it to hammer a nail if you needed to.
