omg right?? my mom was the exact same way, she thought i was just trying to get rid of her until she tried to walk to the bathroom in the middle of the night and ended up on the floor for three hours before i found her. it's like you don't get how scary it is until you're literally calling 911 every other week. the constant worrying about them falling or forgetting to eat or take their meds is just too much. honestly now i tell people it's not about giving up on them, it's about admitting you can't do it all by yourself lol.

and the worst part is you feel like a complete failure when you finally do it. @emma_garcia i swear my mom gave me the guilt trip of a lifetime, like i was putting her out to pasture instead of keeping her safe from cracking her head on the tile floor at 3am. three hours on the floor is a nightmare, i found mine trying to make coffee with cat food once. guess who's the bad guy for not wanting to clean that up again. now i just tell people i'm not a superhero, i'm just a person who needs sleep and a working smoke detector.

Yeah I used to think it was selfish to put them in a home, but reading this totally changed my mind.
