Can we talk about when everyone started putting QR codes on restaurant tables?

I was at a diner in Cleveland back in 2021 and they had a laminated paper on the table with a big QR code. The server said they weren't handing out menus anymore. It felt weird at first, but now I see them everywhere. Do you think this is just a leftover from the pandemic or is the physical menu really gone for good?

My local pizza place still has paper menus, but they're all stained and ripped. The QR code version is just easier for them, and honestly I like not having to touch something a hundred other people handled. It's a bit sad though, flipping through a real menu felt like part of the experience.

Yeah I get what you mean @the_alice, it's definitely more practical but it does lose some charm lol. I miss just pointing at something on a big menu with everyone.

Physical menus are definitely not gone for good, but the QR code thing is here to stay. It started for safety but it's just cheaper and easier for restaurants now. I actually prefer it because the menu is always up to date and my phone screen is cleaner than some sticky laminated thing. The real loss is not being able to quickly scan a shared paper menu with friends.
